There should be a pinky sized gap between your heel and the back the of clog, and plenty of room in the toe box area. The instep will be the snuggest part of the shoe and your heel should lift up slightly out of the shoe as you walk.

I’m a long-time fan of Sanita and bought these sandals 3 weeks ago for vacation, and have worn them at least twice/week since. I love the chestnut colour, and have gotten compliments every time. I wish they came in other colours besides Chestnut & Black. I’d have one of each!
They’re extremely comfortable right out of box - no “break in” necessary. I can wear them for 8 hours without foot fatigue. I have high arches, and the support is terrific. I wear a size 40 medium, the foot and ankle strap adjusted beautifully when my feet swelled double one day, so these sandals will definitely work for wide foot and ankle.
