There should be a pinky sized gap between your heel and the back the of clog, and plenty of room in the toe box area. The instep will be the snuggest part of the shoe and your heel should lift up slightly out of the shoe as you walk.

Not for professional kitchen
These are pretty and appear to be good quality but are not suitable for even a slightly wet tile floor. Still a good shoe and since it doesn't claim to be made for cooks, it still gets 5 stars. My mistake.
Note to Sanita: Please give female cooks a certified slip-resistant clog with style and flare.
