There should be a pinky sized gap between your heel and the back the of clog, and plenty of room in the toe box area. The instep will be the snuggest part of the shoe and your heel should lift up slightly out of the shoe as you walk.

I was so happy to find these clogs a few years ago, they are comfortable, have held up well, and even though I'm not vegan or vegetarian, I do try and decrease my use of animal products whenever I can. I'm also glad that the back is rigid enough to support my weight, as I often stand on it when in the OR to quickly gain a few inches without having to use a standing stool. I'm back to get a second pair as I have been wearing mine daily for a few years now, & while they are holding up well, they are starting to fray around the toes, & I want to make sure I have a backup for when they do finally wear out. The fraying hasn't affected the Integrity of the shoe at all, & is just where my feet sometimes scuff off each other when walking.
